Raindrops On The Roof

This poem is about one woman, an ex-girlfriend,who was very dear to me but slipped through my fingers and got away because of my drinking and drug use.

Sometimes

I finally let go

Because it doesn’t matter

Past has passed

Get stuck or move on

Happy to say I am

Very much of the latter

Raindrops on the roof

Pitter-patter

Found someone new

Who can break down my wall

Want to take this slow

But no – it won’t stall

Wake up slow

With her

She’s the only one

That I prefer

Raindrops on the roof

Pitter-patter

Fingertips touch

And hands clasped tight

Want you to know

I won’t ever give up this fight

I feel this chemistry

Indescribable electricity

And it’s because I know

Just gotta take it slow

Raindrops on the roof

And the cabin window
